B.O.A.S Rating – 4/5
In August 2018, fifteen-year-old Greta Thunberg decided to not go to school, starting a strike for the climate outside the Swedish Parliament.
Her actions and continued activism began a global movement calling for action for the crisis we find ourselves in. Our house is on fire and we are all calmly carrying on. Greta’s mission is to stop that and bring the gravity of the situation to the forefront of leaders and politicians who are acting like ‘spoiled children’.
This book, No One Is Too Small To Make A Difference, is a collection of her speeches (which she writes for herself!)
After reading it I was curious as to the state of the movement. 2020 has thrown us a pandemic and global racial protests that are more pressing and consuming. I’m glad to see that Greta’s work continues. Although, after reading the book, you do realize that climate change is probably the biggest threat to our civilization as we know it, yet we can somehow calmly carrying on…
I, myself, are left uncomfortable not sure what people in Kenya can really do in this regard. Because even the best of efforts will not be enough, according to the book. What is required is radical action. Still glad to be more aware of that now.
